The Mazak QT15N was designed for Speed, Accuracy and Productivity with an impressive 1180 inches per minute rapid traverse, a 20 Horse Power Motor and a 32 bit High-Speed Microprocessor Interactive Conversational Control. The Rapid traverse acceleration/deceleration time is only .08 second. The Turret indexing time is .35 second and the Processing speed is 5 times faster than conventional 16 bit based systems. Processing speed is 1.2 million instructions per second. The QT15N has the fastest chip-to-chip time in the world for a turning center with a time of only 1.4 seconds in one step and 1.7 seconds for full step indexing. Tool selection is random by the shortest path.
Thorough design consideration was given to thermal displacement of the spindle-considerations such as symmetric headstock construction, thermally insulating the headstock from the machine base by special plates. The combination of duplex angular contact ball bearings and double-row cylindrical roller bearings at the front and double-row cylindrical roller bearings at the rear rigidly support the spindle for heavy-duty cutting.
Each QT15N is supplied with a tool eye sensor. Using the tool eye system, the time required to measure the tool is drastically reduced and a higher level of operation safety is assured. During automatic operation, the tool eye measures tools and automatically compensates for tool wear and detects tool breakage.
This QT15N comes equipped with a rigid fully automatic programmable tailstock which is operated by the NC commands to reduce loading/unloading time for shaft work pieces.
